New Paper on Competition Policy and AI
What can competition policy enforcers do right now to reign in Big Tech's AI power grab? A lot, actually!
I'm thrilled to announce the publication of a new report on AI and competition policy by the Open Markets Institute and the Mozilla Foundation, co-authored by Max von Thun and me.
AI is an inescapable topic these days. Through all the noise, it is clear that this technology can solve many of society’s important questions. However, there is also a growing concern that Big Tech will monopolize this increasingly important technology. Fortunately, the industry is still in its nascency, and competition authorities around the globe have existing tools to ensure the industry remains open and fair.
Our paper discusses:
The growing concentration problem in the AI industry creates many problems for the public
Big Tech is the cause of this concentration.
Competition authorities have tools to tackle this problem now and prevent Big Tech from expanding their dominance.
We detail how competition authorities can use their existing legal authority to tackle this growing concentration problem in the AI industry.
You can download the paper here. Enjoy!
