Big Tech Should be Broken Up and the FTC Releases a New Report on Right to Repair
Hi everyone,
Today Congressional Quarterly published a short article I wrote in a newly released report on reining in Big Tech. My article explains why Big Tech should be broken up. My article is in opposition to what Allison Schrager, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, wrote who argues that Big Tech should not be broken up.
Be sure to let me know which article you find more persuasive. Here is the link to the full article.
Also, the Federal Trade Commission released a new report on right to repair on Thursday. This report is a summary of the commission’s findings from its right to repair workshops it held in 2019. I wrote up a short piece in The Corner, a newsletter of the Open Markets Institute, where I explain the strengths and weaknesses of the report. While the report did an excellent job at explaining the harmful effects of restrictive repair practices of dominant corporations, the commission could have been stronger on emphasizing its broad regulatory powers to tackle the issue.
